Entertaining Mr. Sloane
‘Entertaining Mr Sloane’ is well into rehearsals with the remainder taking place at the Playhouse. It’s great to be ‘home’!
A lot of work goes on outside of rehearsals. For cast members that includes learning lines, developing the character and working out moves. Come along and see the results from 24th to 28th May. Set in swinging sixties London, Entertaining Mr Sloane encapsulates the psychopathic style of that decade; that restless, ruthless, single minded pursuit of satisfaction, transformed by drugs and rock & roll into myth.
1966, South London. Mr Sloane, a good looking young drifter of questionable morals, joins Kath’s household as a lodger and proceeds to manipulate both her and her businessman brother, Ed, to his own distinct advantage. With dark secrets, blackmail, violence and lustful infatuation, the plot of this black comedy from the acerbic pen of 60s playwright, Joe Orton, has more twists and turns than the Bakerloo Line . . . . . . Needless to say, Sloane’s “just desserts” are not what one would expect!
